The closing of Gamespy was announced for 30 th June but noone saw it. The game master server was shut down 27th July so all games which depend on this was unusable online.
Don't panic : for SWBF2, gameshare provide new master server, you only have to update your game or change server DNS with Hexa-Editor inside BattlefrontII.exe (see the official website for more features).
For other games (Arma II, etc), much of them are yet supported by tunngle which offers to make massive LAN networks.
Sure, the multiplayer will never be what it was before. For exemple, only ~30 players are playing tonight, not enough to full a server. All beginners (sweetly called noobs) might not have the information and will play another game.
Conclusion : Battlefront 3, PLEASE COMES SOON !!!!!
note : Developped by EA, swbf3 was annouced for end 2015 in same time with StarWars VII.
